Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 14:1-11

Asa was a king of Judah who in his kingly reigned did “…good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God…” (v2). He removed that which was displeasing to God from the land (v3) and commanded the people of Judah “…to seek the LORD God of their fathers…” (v4). His reign resulted in the rest of righteousness which the LORD gave to those who sought Him (v7). Yet it wasn’t long until the Judean army of 580,000 was met against a seemingly immoveable force of 1 million Ethiopian invading warriors. This was an undisputable mismatch, a case in which would result almost certainly in defeat. So how did Asa respond? He didn’t run, hide, nor did he give way to anxious despair. Rather he acted (v10) and prayed (11). His prayer was marked by intensity, for his eye affected his heart: “…Asa cried out to the LORD…” (v11). Yet his tears ascended to heaven coupled with these words, “…LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude…” Asa realized that the success of the battle was dependent upon the power of God. That any mismatch fades when the everlasting God moves His mighty arm. The passage goes on to affirm that Judah’s victory was the result of the “…the LORD [who] struck…” their enemies.

Let us then take courage so as to respond as Asa. Though the powerful nations of the world stand against the waning number of the people of God legislating and supporting the destruction of the lives of millions of unborn babies, let us implore our God. Let us who believe in the God of Asa cry out in prayer remembering His almighty power, and to rest upon our God as we go in His name against this multitude. Let us lay hold of prayer as a God given spiritual weapon of our spiritual warfare, and let us call upon the name of our God.

Prayer

LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power. You are the almighty everlasting God. Help us, O LORD our God, in the battle against the great evil of abortion. Give us leaders like Asa who will cleanse our land of this great atrocity. Grant us grace that we may rest on You, and go forward in Your name against this great multitude. To the God with whom all things are possible we pray, in Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer Points:

For leaders who will promote laws that are consistent with God’s righteous laws.
For a heart of faith to remember and rest in the character and power of our God.
To remember that the battle is the LORD’s and that He has secured the final victory.
The churches and believers in Sydney to have their hearts listening to Gods heart for September 23rd Love Sydney – Walk for Life 2023. That as we stand for life as one we are of one accord and reveal Jesus to the powers of darkness.
Those on the frontline preparing for the Love Sydney Walk for Life, Hyde Park (near the Archibald Fountain), the leaders, volunteers, and guest speakers. For good working sound systems, technicians, security, parking, great weather, and more people have all obstacles removed to be awakened and come out to stand for life.
Success for media coverage, for the word to spread to all the righteous.
Protection for everyone in the pro-life movement – all to be hidden and effective! Psalm 91
For Love Sydney's Walk for Life 2023, perfect weather, good crowds, safety for all, for seed to be sown and God’s connections for the pro-life movement to flourish across the nation. May it be a wonderful gathering of God’s people to be in oneness with each other and hear God’s heart for the unborn.
We pray for every state and territory of Australia to come together to stand for life! For hearts to be awakened and every Christian to rally to rescue the unborn as the church rises up to "Walk for Life Sydney" 23rd Sept 2023 2pm Hyde Park, near Archibald Fountain; “Walk for Life Adelaide”10th Feb 2024 and “March for Life” Brisbane - date TBA, Mackay “March for the Babies” and “March for the Babies” 7th Oct 2023 October, Melbourne. Pray for every Territory and State in our Nation to join in and hold rallies and walks for life in their cities.

These current Pro-Life Issues before Parliaments:

Pray that abortion will not increase in Australia. The ACT Government has announced it will provide free abortions from mid 2023. As Medicare sadly already cover the costs for all Australian women having abortions this is likely to be for overseas students, those on work visas and those here on holiday having abortions paid from Australian taxes. This is currently being debated in the Upper House in Western Australia - their Abortion Legislation Reform Bill 2023 has been labelled by some as the most radical abortion law in the world. Pray they include the 4 clauses from the South Australian Termination of Pregnancy Act 2021.
Pray that The Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill 2022 be passed speedily in 2023. This Bill will protect babies who are currently, in most States of Australia, being left to die after a failed abortion. This protection for such babies is currently law in NSW (2019) and SA (2021) as amendments to the state Termination of Pregnancy Acts. This Federal Bill, if passed, will make this legislation National. Pray for protectionfor the three Federal Senators Alex Antic (Liberal Party) Matthew Canavan (National Party) and Ralph Babet (United Australia Party) who presented this Bill 30/11/2022.
